Boston's Birth Story

Boston was born on February 14 2013 at 4:02 am.  He weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces, and was perfect.
I had a doctor's appointment the afternoon of the 13th.  My doctor checked me, and I was dilated to a 2, everything looked in order for me to be induced on the 16th.  After my doctor appointment that day, I took myself to lunch and walked around a shopping area.  I was having what I thought were cramps all afternoon.  When Jordan got home from work we were going to go to the mall to pick up a couple of things.  As I sat at home waiting for him, and these cramps got stronger, I realized they just may be contractions, so I started timing them out.  By the time Jordan got home, they were about 6 minutes apart, and I told him I was sure our baby was on his way.  We called our doctor, and she said to come in when they were 2-3 minutes.
I was still dilated to a 2 when we got to the hospital, and they wanted me a little farther along, so told me to walk around for an hour or two.  We walked around for an exact hour before I couldn't take it anymore.  We went back to delivery, and I informed them I was ready to be checked in.  I was then at a 4, so they checked me in and asked if I was ready for the epidural.  I didn't have the think twice about that.
Waiting for the anesthesiologist to "explain the procedure" were some of the longest minutes of my life,
I was sure he was talking in slow motion.  But once the epidural kicked in, the rest of the night was great.  I dilated a centimeter an hour.  We were the only ones in labor and delivery that night, and it was so peaceful.  Jordan and I watched TV and some movies until the nurse came in at around 3:30 and told me I looked like I was ready to go.  Within minutes they were telling me to push, and at 4:02, Boston was here.
I feel so blessed to have had such a great labor experience.  Other than that hour of walking around, and what seemed like hours listing to the anesthesiologist,  it was one of the most peaceful experiences for me, I can honestly say I loved [almost] every second of it.
Having Boston has been one of our greatest blessings.
